Welcome to the heart of Biome Botanicals.

Biome was born in Wilderness, the result of a need for natural skin care products for our family, which were not easily available and affordable. We have an active outdoor lifestyle. We frequently walk on the beach, swim in the sea and love the outdoors. Combined with my husband's canoeing, cycling and our exposure to the sun and the outdoors, required special treatment for our skin types. In addition,  my husband grew up in Namibia under the harsh semi desert sun. His skin became sun damaged and dark skin spots developed on his face, hands and arms. He also has a natural tendency to eczema with dry flaking skin spots all over his body. I myself, suffered from very dry facial skin and painful cracking skin on my heels and nothing I tried, really worked well.

My long time passion for gardening, my love for plants and my interest in their healing characteristics, prompted me to start experimenting. I started to make my own natural skincare products for our family. It rippled out to our extended family and then our friends and their friends. Biome started to evolve.

I, however in the beginning knew very little about formulating natural skin care products, but I was hooked. I found  an unquenchable interest, fresh energy and a new passion in my life. I started to study and I immersed myself in internationally accredited courses and obtained a nationally approved diploma in organic skin care formulation.

Fascinated by the healing properties available from plants across the African Botanical Biome and how they were used for millennia by indigenous people for natural healing, it became the inspiration for my formulations. My first products were ready after many moons of research, study, careful selection, responsible sourcing, scientific blending,  tedious testing and brand development.

Biome is more than a brand – it's a journey of love, resilience, and the healing touch of nature. Biome became fully fledged!
